GRM Mining Zambia Limited (GMZL) is seeking an experienced, results-oriented, and safety-conscious Maintenance Foreman to join its mining operations team. About the Role

The Maintenance Foreman will be responsible for supervising maintenance personnel, coordinating equipment repairs, ensuring maximum equipment availability, and maintaining high safety and maintenance standards. The successful candidate will lead maintenance teams, oversee preventive and corrective maintenance activities, and ensure compliance with company policies and OEM requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance Operations

• Supervise and coordinate daily maintenance activities for heavy mining equipment.

• Plan and schedule preventive and corrective maintenance to maximize equipment availability.

• Diagnose mechanical faults and coordinate timely repairs.

• Monitor equipment performance and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.

• Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and equipment history.

• Ensure proper utilization of tools, spare parts, and workshop resources.

Team Leadership

• Lead, coach, and mentor maintenance personnel to achieve high performance and productivity.

• Conduct toolbox talks and promote a strong safety culture.

• Foster teamwork and ensure adherence to company maintenance procedures.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure all maintenance work complies with company policies, OEM specifications, and statutory safety requirements.

• Promote compliance with safety regulations and best maintenance practices.

• Liaise with Operations to minimize equipment downtime and improve productivity.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

• Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.

• Valid membership with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).

Experience

The ideal candidate should have:

• Minimum of three (3) years' supervisory maintenance experience in an open-pit mining environment.

• Hands-on experience maintaining and supervising repairs on:

  • Komatsu HD785 Dump Trucks.

  • Hitachi Hydraulic Excavators.

  • Komatsu D85 Dozers.

Required Skills and Competencies

The successful candidate should demonstrate:

• Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance systems and heavy equipment diagnostics.

• Good leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

• Computer literacy, with knowledge of maintenance management systems being an added advantage.

• Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.

• Strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.

• Excellent planning, organizational, and decision-making skills.
