About the Role
The Electronic Electrical Mechanic will support the company's maintenance operations by ensuring that electrical and electronic equipment operates safely and efficiently. The successful candidate will perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance while responding quickly to equipment breakdowns to reduce operational disruptions.
Working closely with engineers, technicians, production personnel, and contractors, the successful applicant will help maintain electrical systems, automation equipment, and industrial machinery to the highest operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Installation and Maintenance
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical and electronic equipment, machinery, and control systems.
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on plant equipment.
- Test and commission electrical and electronic equipment after installation or repairs.
- Ensure equipment operates according to manufacturer specifications.
Fault Diagnosis and Repairs
Responsibilities include:
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and electronic faults using appropriate testing equipment.
- Inspect motors, wiring, control panels, sensors, circuit boards, and electrical components.
- Repair or replace faulty wiring, relays, switches, motors, circuit boards, and other electrical devices.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and minimise production downtime.
Automation and Control Systems
The successful candidate will:
- Install and maintain Variable Speed Drives (VSDs), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), instrumentation, and automation systems.
- Support troubleshooting of automated production equipment.
- Assist in improving equipment reliability through effective maintenance practices.
Documentation and Compliance
The role also involves:
- Reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records and equipment performance reports.
- Managing maintenance tools, testing equipment, and spare parts inventory.
- Ensuring compliance with electrical safety regulations, company procedures, and industry standards.
Teamwork
The successful applicant will:
- Work closely with engineers, technicians, production teams, and contractors.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the maintenance department.
- Promote safe work practices and maintain high housekeeping standards.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- Technical qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Electrical Maintenance, or a related field.
- Minimum of three (3) years' practical experience in electrical and electronic maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of electric motors, Variable Speed Drives (VSDs), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), instrumentation, and industrial control systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
- Proficiency in using electrical testing and diagnostic instruments.
Preferred Requirements
Preference will be given to:
- Applicants currently residing in Lusaka.
- Candidates who are available to begin work immediately.
