About the Internship

The Engineer Intern will support the Technical and Engineering Department in the planning, supervision, and execution of engineering projects. The successful candidate will assist with site inspections, engineering documentation, measurements, quality control, and project reporting while ensuring that projects are completed safely and efficiently.

This internship provides an excellent opportunity to develop practical engineering skills while working on real construction and infrastructure projects under the guidance of experienced professionals.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Site Supervision and Monitoring

- Assist engineers in supervising and monitoring ongoing construction projects.

- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor project progress.

- Ensure engineering activities comply with approved project specifications.

- Support project engineers with daily operational activities.

Engineering Measurements and Documentation

Responsibilities include:

- Take site measurements and engineering levels.

- Prepare daily site reports and project diaries.

- Assist in preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQs), material schedules, and progress reports.

- Support the preparation and maintenance of engineering documentation.

Drafting and Technical Support

The successful candidate will:

- Assist with drafting and interpreting engineering drawings using AutoCAD.

- Support engineering calculations and technical documentation.

- Participate in data collection, engineering surveys, and preparation of as-built documentation.

- Assist with project planning and reporting activities.

Quality, Safety and Compliance

The role also involves:

- Conducting basic materials testing under supervision.

- Supporting quality assurance and quality control activities.

- Ensuring compliance with site safety regulations and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

- Performing additional duties assigned by the Project Engineer or Project Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicantsshould possess:

- Must be a Zambian citizen.

- Recently graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in:

- Civil Engineering

- Mechanical Engineering

- Electrical Engineering

- Or another related engineering discipline from a recognised institution.

- Minimum Credit or 60% overall average.

- Valid Driver's Licence.

- Student Membership with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) will be an added advantage.

Technical Requirements

Applicants should have knowledge of:

- AutoCAD.

- Microsoft Word.

- Microsoft Excel.

- Microsoft Project.

- Construction materials and engineering practices.

- Site safety procedures and construction standards.
