About the Role

The Assistant Internal Auditor will work closely with the Internal Audit team to assess business processes, evaluate internal controls, and ensure company operations comply with financial policies, statutory regulations, and best business practices.

The successful candidate will participate in audit assignments, review financial records, evaluate inventory management processes, identify operational risks, and prepare reports containing recommendations for improving efficiency and strengthening internal controls.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate may be responsible for:

• Assisting with the planning and execution of internal audit assignments.

• Reviewing financial transactions and accounting records for accuracy and compliance.

• Supporting inventory and stock audits across company branches.

• Assessing operational risks and recommending corrective actions.

• Preparing audit working papers and professional audit reports.

• Assisting in fraud prevention and risk management initiatives.

• Travelling to branch locations when required to conduct audit activities.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Auditing, Finance, or a related field.

• Membership with the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA).

• Membership or eligibility for membership with a recognised professional body.

• Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CIMA, ZICA, or progress towards obtaining one will be an added advantage.

• Minimum of two (2) years' relevant experience in Internal Audit, External Audit, Risk Management, or Accounting.

Preferred Experience

Candidates with the following experience will have an added advantage:

• Knowledge of inventory and stock audit procedures.

• Experience evaluating internal control systems.

• Familiarity with risk assessment and compliance reviews.

• Experience working within retail, trading, manufacturing, or distribution environments.
