Job Overview
ZICTA is seeking a skilled Developer – Applications to join its team in Lusaka. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing secure application systems for both internal and external users. The role involves designing high-quality software solutions, integrating systems, resolving technical issues, and implementing secure coding practices while supporting the Authority's digital transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Application Development
Develop high-quality front-end and back-end application features.
Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following established coding standards.
Design and implement new application functionality to meet business requirements.
Contribute to user interface (UI) and server-side development.
Systems Integration & Testing
Integrate applications with APIs, databases, and third-party services.
Develop and execute unit and integration tests.
Identify and resolve software defects before deployment.
Ensure applications meet performance, reliability, and quality standards.
Issue Resolution & Documentation
Investigate and resolve application bugs and technical issues.
Implement software fixes and enhancements.
Prepare and maintain technical documentation, release notes, and system updates.
Communicate changes effectively with technical and business stakeholders.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
Work closely with senior developers and project teams.
Participate in code reviews and quality assurance activities.
Research emerging technologies, frameworks, and development best practices.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the development team.
Secure Software Development
Follow secure coding standards throughout the software development lifecycle.
Implement application security controls including input validation, encryption, and authentication.
Conduct security reviews and vulnerability assessments.
Stay informed on emerging cybersecurity threats and industry best practices.
Qualifications & Requirements
General Education
Full Grade 12 School Certificate.
Professional Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Membership with ICTAZ or another recognised professional body.
Experience
Minimum of 2 years' working experience in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) field.
Skills & Competencies
Front-end and back-end software development.
API integration and database management.
Software testing and debugging.
Secure software development practices.
Knowledge of modern programming frameworks and development tools.
Problem-solving and analytical thinking.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
