The organisation works closely with farming communities to promote environmental conservation, enhance food security, and create sustainable income-generating opportunities.

EFF is currently recruiting Field Extension Officers to support the implementation of its Cashew Tree Planting Project across Western Province, Zambia.

About the Role

The Field Extension Officer will play a key role in mobilising farming communities, delivering agricultural extension services, and supporting the successful establishment of cashew plantations. The successful candidate will work directly with smallholder farmers, providing technical guidance on sustainable agroforestry practices while monitoring project implementation and reporting field activities.

This position requires frequent travel within rural communities across Western Province.

Key Responsibilities

• Mobilise and register farmers participating in the Cashew Tree Planting Project.

• Train farmers on cashew tree establishment, management, and sustainable agroforestry practices.

• Provide ongoing technical support and extension services to beneficiary farmers.

• Monitor tree planting progress, survival rates, and maintenance activities.

• Collect, compile, and submit accurate field reports and project data.

• Coordinate the distribution of seedlings and other agricultural inputs.

• Collaborate with local authorities, traditional leaders, and community stakeholders.

• Support project monitoring, evaluation, reporting, and compliance activities.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

• Diploma in Forestry, Agriculture, Agroforestry, Natural Resources Management, or a related field.

• Knowledge of sustainable agriculture, forestry, or agroforestry practices.

• Experience in community mobilisation and farmer training.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

• Ability to work independently and travel extensively within rural communities.

Preferred Requirements

The following will be an added advantage:

• Fluency in Lozi (mandatory).

• Applicants who are from or currently residing in Western Province will be given preference.

• Experience working with smallholder farmers, tree planting projects, or community development programmes.
