Wonderful Group of Companies Limited is inviting applications from experienced Human Resource professionals for the position of Human Resource Officer. This is a full-time opportunity based in Lusaka, Zambia, offering the chance to join one of the country's growing manufacturing companies.
The company operates across several industries, including fertilizer production, porcelain tile manufacturing, and industrial packaging materials. It is seeking a skilled HR professional who can effectively manage the full range of human resource functions within a busy manufacturing environment while supporting employee development, operational efficiency, and compliance with Zambian labour legislation.
The Human Resource Officer will oversee daily HR operations at the company's manufacturing plant. This is a senior-level position that combines strategic human resource planning with hands-on operational responsibilities.
The successful candidate will manage recruitment, employee relations, payroll support, performance management, statutory compliance, training programmes, and workforce planning. The role requires an individual who can build positive working relationships, maintain accurate employee records, and ensure compliance with all relevant employment legislation.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Human Resource Operations
- Manage day-to-day HR activities across the manufacturing workforce.
- Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, attendance management, and employee exits.
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation.
- Support workforce planning and headcount management.
Employee Relations
Responsibilities include:
- Managing employee relations matters professionally.
- Conducting disciplinary hearings and grievance procedures.
- Resolving workplace conflicts in accordance with Zambian labour laws.
- Promoting a positive workplace culture and employee engagement.
Training and Development
The role also includes:
- Coordinating employee training programmes.
- Supporting staff development initiatives.
- Promoting workplace safety awareness through training activities.
Compliance and Payroll Support
The Human Resource Officer will:
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including NAPSA, NHIMA, Workers' Compensation, and other employment regulations.
- Prepare payroll inputs and administer leave schedules.
- Support employee benefits administration.
- Ensure HR policies and procedures are consistently applied.
Performance Management
The successful applicant will:
- Monitor employee performance management systems.
- Support succession planning initiatives.
- Assist management with workforce development strategies.
- Perform additional HR duties assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management or a related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years' progressive HR experience.
- At least three (3) years' experience in a manufacturing, factory, or industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of Zambian labour laws and employment regulations.
- Experience managing employee relations and high-volume HR administration.
- Experience recruiting and managing blue-collar employees.
- Good working knowledge of HR Information Systems (HRIS).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Added Advantage
- Full membership with the Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management (ZIHRM).
