Junior Mechanical Engineer Job in Solwezi – First Quantum Minerals.

About the Role

The Junior Mechanical Engineer will provide technical engineering support for maintenance and production activities across the mining operation. Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Mechanical Maintenance

- Support preventive and corrective maintenance of mechanical equipment.

- Assist with maintenance planning and execution.

- Participate in equipment inspections and servicing activities.

- Ensure machinery operates safely and efficiently.

Equipment Reliability

Responsibilities include:

- Conduct equipment failure analysis and identify root causes.

- Collect and analyse performance data for critical production equipment.

- Recommend practical improvements to enhance equipment reliability.

- Support condition monitoring and maintenance improvement initiatives.

Engineering Projects

The successful candidate will:

- Provide engineering support for equipment installation, maintenance, and operational improvements.

- Assist in managing small engineering projects from planning through completion.

- Support equipment replacement, refurbishment, and upgrade programmes.

- Contribute to improving engineering standards, technical specifications, and maintenance procedures.

Safety and Operational Support

The role also involves:

- Promoting a safe working environment by complying with company health, safety, and environmental policies.

- Participating in incident investigations and root cause analysis.

- Collaborating with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to resolve technical issues.

- Performing additional engineering duties assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

- Full Grade 12 School Certificate.

- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

- Membership with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).

- Good computer literacy.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

- Ability to work effectively within multicultural and multidisciplinary teams.

Important: All academic qualifications and examination results must be verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA) before appointment.
