About the Role

Mopani Copper Mines PLC is seeking a qualified and physically capable Mechanic Plumber to join its engineering team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out plumbing maintenance and repair activities, responding to work orders and ensuring that plumbing installations, fittings, tools and work areas are maintained to the required standards.

Key Responsibilities

Plumbing Maintenance & Repairs

• Receive and execute daily written work orders and verbal instructions from the Foreman.

• Carry out plumbing maintenance and repair work using appropriate technical skills and knowledge.

• Inspect and maintain plumbing works and fittings to ensure they remain functional and fit for purpose.

• Interpret engineering drawings accurately when carrying out assigned plumbing work.

Work Execution & Resource Utilisation

• Make effective use of available materials, spare parts and labour when completing assigned tasks.

• Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and to acceptable quality standards.

• Demonstrate a clear understanding of the scope and requirements of assigned work.

Tools, Housekeeping & Documentation

• Keep tools and equipment clean, safe and properly maintained.

• Maintain clean and orderly work areas after completing each job.

• Complete all required job-related documentation accurately.

• Provide relevant information through documentation to support effective communication between teams.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

Applicants should possess:

• Grade 12 Certificate.

• Craft Certificate in Plumbing.

• Membership with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).

• Physical fitness and dexterity required to handle plumbing tools and equipment.

• Ability to interpret engineering drawings.

• Good oral and written communication skills.

• Academic and professional qualifications verified and certified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).

Technical Skills

• Plumbing installation and maintenance.

• Plumbing repairs and fitting.

• Ability to use relevant plumbing tools and equipment.

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

• Effective use of materials and spare parts.

• Accurate completion of work orders and maintenance documentation.
