The role combines technical engineering expertise with production management, workshop supervision, product development and operational improvement.
The Metal Fabrication Engineer & Production Manager will be responsible for managing metal fabrication activities within the workshop while ensuring that products are manufactured according to approved designs, specifications and quality standards.
The successful candidate will supervise fabrication personnel, coordinate production activities, manage material requirements and contribute to research and development initiatives. The position also involves transforming new product concepts into practical designs and prototypes and identifying opportunities to improve production efficiency, reduce waste and enhance profitability.
Manage and supervise metal fabrication processes and day-to-day workshop activities.
Coordinate fabrication staff and ensure production activities are completed efficiently.
Monitor production schedules and ensure projects are completed accurately and on time.
Maintain high standards of quality, workmanship and production efficiency.
Research, design and develop new metal fabrication products based on market requirements.
Convert product concepts into functional designs and prototypes for testing and eventual production.
Develop new tools, equipment and product improvements to support innovation.
Improve existing products and fabrication methods to enhance quality and competitiveness.
Prepare and issue material requisitions according to production requirements.
Monitor material consumption and identify opportunities to minimise waste.
Support measures aimed at reducing production costs and improving profitability.
Ensure materials are used efficiently throughout the fabrication process.
Review and verify sales orders before production begins.
Confirm product specifications, quantities and other production requirements.
Ensure production complies with approved designs, specifications and quality standards.
Identify and address quality or production issues as they arise.
Work closely with the Sales, Procurement and Production teams to ensure smooth workflow.
Coordinate technical and production requirements across relevant departments.
Ensure production teams have the necessary materials, specifications and information to execute orders correctly.
Identify opportunities to improve production processes and workshop efficiency.
Implement practical improvements that can enhance productivity and profitability.
Contribute to the continuous development of the company's fabrication capabilities.
Applicants should possess:
Full Grade 12 Certificate.
Bachelor's Degree in Metal Fabrication Engineering from a reputable institution.
Minimum of 5 years' relevant experience in metal fabrication engineering and production management.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Professional fluency in English.
