The company is seeking an experienced procurement professional to lead its procurement function in Lusaka and support efficient acquisition of goods and services across both direct and support operations.
The Procurement Manager will report directly to the Director of Supply Chain and Remanufacturing and will be responsible for overseeing the full procurement lifecycle, from sourcing and supplier selection through purchasing, contract administration, delivery, and supplier performance management.
The successful candidate will provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure cost-effective procurement, compliance with company policies, effective supplier relationships, and uninterrupted supply chain operations.
Manage procurement activities across direct and support procurement categories.
Develop and implement sourcing strategies aligned with business requirements.
Lead supplier sourcing, selection, evaluation, and negotiations.
Identify opportunities to improve procurement efficiency and value for money.
Ensure procurement activities support business continuity and operational requirements.
Manage relationships with key suppliers and service providers.
Conduct supplier evaluations and monitor supplier performance.
Administer procurement contracts and monitor compliance with contractual obligations.
Track supplier performance against agreed service-level agreements.
Address and resolve supplier-related issues and disputes.
Supervise procurement activities from requisition through purchase order and delivery.
Review and approve purchase orders within applicable ERP systems.
Ensure goods and services are delivered within agreed timelines.
Monitor outstanding orders and address potential supply delays.
Lead cost-saving and procurement optimisation initiatives.
Monitor procurement expenditure against approved budgets.
Analyse procurement spending patterns and identify areas for improvement.
Support procurement budgeting and financial planning activities.
Ensure procurement processes comply with established company policies and procedures.
Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier information, and reporting data.
Utilise ERP systems to manage procurement transactions and information.
Support continuous improvement of procurement processes and systems.
Maintain current procurement policies and procedures.
Identify and manage procurement and supply chain risks.
Ensure procurement activities remain compliant with applicable policies and requirements.
Maintain audit-ready procurement documentation and records.
Prepare and submit monthly procurement reports.
Work closely with internal departments to understand and meet procurement requirements.
Support effective service delivery through timely procurement.
Coordinate with stakeholders to resolve procurement and supplier-related challenges.
Lead, supervise, and mentor procurement staff.
Set performance objectives and monitor team performance.
Conduct staff performance appraisals.
Support professional development and encourage relevant professional certification, including CIPS/ZIPS.
Applicants should possess:
Full Grade 12 Certificate.
Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum of 10 years' experience in procurement and supply chain management.
At least 5 years' experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
Experience in mining, extractive industries, manufacturing, or a related environment is preferred.
Membership with the Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply (ZIPS) or an equivalent professional body is essential.
IPS certification is an added advantage.
A Master's Degree in a relevant field is advantageous.
Valid, unendorsed manual driver's licence.
Qualifications validated by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
Strong understanding of the complete procurement lifecycle.
Expertise in strategic sourcing and supplier selection.
Strong supplier and contract management capabilities.
Excellent negotiation skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency in enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, including:
SAP
Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365)
Oracle
Navision
Pronto
Good understanding of procurement compliance, risk management, and governance.
Strong leadership and people-management capabilities.
Ability to develop and mentor procurement teams.
Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
High level of integrity and professionalism.
Ability to make sound procurement decisions in a demanding operational environment.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
