About the Role

The Psychosocial Counsellor will provide confidential counselling services and mental health support to individuals within the football club. The role involves helping clients manage emotional, psychological, behavioural, and social challenges that may affect their overall well-being and performance.

Working closely with club management, coaches, medical personnel, and other support staff, the successful candidate will promote positive mental health, resilience, and personal development while maintaining high ethical and professional standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • ● Provide individual psychosocial counselling and emotional support.

  • ● Assess clients' mental health and psychosocial needs.

  • ● Develop appropriate counselling and support plans.

  • ● Promote mental health awareness and emotional well-being within the club.

  • ● Assist individuals in managing stress, anxiety, emotional challenges, and personal issues.

  • ● Maintain confidential counselling records and documentation.

  • ● Refer clients to specialised services where necessary.

  • ● Work collaboratively with coaches, medical staff, and management to support holistic player welfare.

  • ● Uphold professional ethics, confidentiality, and safeguarding standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

  • ● A Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, Psychosocial Counselling, Mental Health Studies, or a related field.

  • ● Registration with a recognised professional counselling or psychology body.

  • ● Minimum of three (3) years of experience providing counselling or psychosocial support services.

  • ● Experience working with young people, athletes, or within high-performance environments will be an added advantage.
