The company has undertaken projects across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America. In Zambia, CBMI Africa Limited has been involved in major projects including the Lafarge Chilanga Cement Plant, Sinoma Cement Plant and Cleanlime Limestone Plant.
CBMI Africa Limited is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join its project team in Lusaka.
The successful candidate will provide quantity surveying, cost management and contract administration support across construction projects. The role requires strong experience in industrial, solar and warehousing projects, particularly those involving civil, mechanical and electrical works.
The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, supporting tendering processes, monitoring contracts and project costs, and conducting site measurements and inspections.
Prepare accurate cost estimates for construction projects using recognised and standard quantity surveying measurement methods.
Conduct quantity take-offs and measurements to support project costing and financial control.
Review project requirements and specifications to ensure cost estimates accurately reflect the scope of work.
Conduct on-site measurements and inspections to verify completed works and quantities.
Prepare, develop and evaluate tender documentation.
Review tender submissions to ensure compliance with project specifications, requirements and submission deadlines.
Support the evaluation of costs and commercial aspects of contractor and supplier submissions.
Ensure quantity surveying documentation is maintained accurately throughout the tendering process.
Assist with the management and administration of construction contracts and agreements.
Monitor project progress against contractual requirements and approved costs.
Support the enforcement of contractual obligations and cost-control procedures.
Identify potential cost issues and provide relevant information to project management.
Maintain accurate cost and contract documentation.
Carry out site measurements and inspections to verify quantities, workmanship and compliance with project requirements.
Work closely with project teams and other technical professionals to address commercial and cost-related matters.
Ensure work is assessed in accordance with project specifications and contractual requirements.
Perform other quantity surveying duties assigned by the Project Manager in accordance with professional standards.
Applicants should possess:
A Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
A full Grade 12 certificate.
At least 10 years of hands-on experience in construction projects.
Active membership with the Zambia Institute of Quantity Surveyors (ZIQS).
Experience in quantity surveying and construction cost management.
Experience supporting contract administration and tender processes.
Experience working with construction projects involving civil, mechanical and electrical works is relevant to the role.
Candidates should demonstrate:
Proficiency in quantity surveying and cost-estimation software.
Good knowledge of construction measurement methods.
Strong understanding of tender documentation and contract administration.
Good Microsoft Office skills.
Strong analytical and numerical abilities.
Ability to interpret construction project requirements and specifications.
Good understanding of project cost control.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

The Quantity Surveyor will be based in Lusaka and will support construction and engineering projects. The position may involve regular interaction with project teams and contractors as well as site visits for measurements, inspections and project monitoring.
