Petropipe Oil and Gas is seeking a motivated and technically skilled Sales Engineer – Mining to join its team in Ndola.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing business opportunities within Zambia's mining sector and providing technical sales support for valves, piping, fittings, instrumentation and flow control equipment.
The role involves regular travel to mine sites, concentrators, smelters and refineries across the Copperbelt and North-Western provinces, requiring strong technical knowledge combined with customer engagement and business development skills.
Identify and develop new business opportunities within mining companies and processing plants.
Promote valves, piping, fittings, flanges, instrumentation and flow control equipment to prospective customers.
Build and maintain strong professional relationships with mining companies, contractors and other industry stakeholders.
Follow up on sales opportunities and work towards converting quotations into confirmed orders.
Conduct regular visits to mines, concentrators, smelters and refineries.
Assess customer process requirements and installed equipment.
Identify upcoming shutdowns, projects, expansions and equipment requirements.
Engage with technical and procurement teams to understand customer needs.
Review technical enquiries and customer requirements.
Interpret technical drawings, datasheets and material take-offs (MTOs).
Work with the bid team to prepare accurate technical and commercial proposals.
Follow up on submitted quotations and negotiate commercial terms where required.
Manage existing customer accounts and provide appropriate after-sales support.
Coordinate timely delivery of products to customer sites.
Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, enquiries and proposals through the CRM system.
Prepare weekly activity plans and reports.
Monitor developments within the Zambian mining industry.
Identify new mining projects, expansions and planned shutdowns.
Track competitor activities and market developments.
Gather information on customer budgets and upcoming procurement opportunities.
Maintain Petropipe's registration on mining company vendor lists and tender portals.
Ensure company documentation required for supplier registration remains current.
Support participation in mining procurement and tender processes.
Applicants should possess:
Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Metallurgical, Chemical, Mining, Instrumentation Engineering or a related discipline.
3–6 years of experience in B2B technical sales or engineering/maintenance roles within the mining industry.
An established network of contacts within mining companies and contractors in the Copperbelt and North-Western provinces.
Strong knowledge of industrial valves, piping, fittings and flanges.
Ability to interpret technical datasheets, material take-offs (MTOs) and engineering drawings.
Valid Zambian driving licence.
Willingness to travel frequently, including multi-day mine-site visits.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Mining procurement processes in Zambia.
Strong customer engagement and relationship-building skills.
Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
Commercial awareness and business development orientation.
Strong technical problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple customer opportunities.
Professional and confident approach when dealing with mining customers and contractors.
Good planning, reporting and organisational skills.
Willingness to travel extensively for customer and site engagements.
The position is based in Ndola and involves frequent travel to mine sites and processing facilities, particularly across the Copperbelt and North-Western provinces.
The role combines office-based sales and proposal activities with regular customer meetings, technical assessments and site visits, including multi-day travel where required.
